If I could leave a -⭐️, I would.
I left my vehicle at Van Horn on 4/23/24 for a week to investigate suspension instability and begin an oil consumption test. Despite my CarMax warranty, Van Horn made me pay over $120 for an oil change to start the test, which was supposed to include fluid top-offs and filter replacements.
When I picked up my car, they claimed the only issue was the four struts and said they had reprogrammed my drivetrain. Despite concerns, Lucas assured me everything was fine. While I noticed some improvement, stability issues returned.
At my 1,000-mile oil check, a technician found my oil a quart low but dismissed it as “within Jeep’s range.” Meanwhile, the new struts started making noise. Fred, a mechanic, replaced a rear strut but skipped the necessary alignment. Soon after, the other rear strut failed. Employees admitted Van Horn often received or mishandled defective struts.
After several frustrating visits—met with delays, dismissive service, and conflicting opinions—Chris G confirmed at my 1,500-mile oil check that my oil was over two quarts low but failed to add any. When I returned on 11/06/24, Paul F confirmed the same and finally topped it off.
On 12/02/24, Fred suddenly blamed the control arms and sway bar links instead of the struts. Bob then admitted my oil test had to restart because he forgot to document my oil level. I filed complaints with Van Horn corporate, BBB, and Mopar FCA, but nothing changed.
Later, I discovered Fred had intentionally left my oil cap off, forcing another test restart. By 3/4/25, my oil was again over two quarts low. Despite my request not to take my car to the back, they did. Adam, the service manager, falsely claimed my vehicle had a “massive oil leak” that needed fixing before another restart.
An independent shop confirmed there was no leak. They had already replaced both rear struts—one three times and the other twice—leading me to suspect Van Horn either installed faulty parts or never replaced them but still charged my warranty. They also found oil deliberately poured over my engine, which they had to clean twice.
Van Horn’s dishonesty and incompetence have caused me stress and financial burden. I expect immediate resolution.
